Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation

Physical Therapy and rehabilitation are our primary services to our patients. Our team of qualified, licensed professionals helps people of all ages recover from many kinds of injuries and afterward, shows them how to maintain their recovered agility and fitness levels. We also perform Functional Capacity Evals (FCE's) and work conditioning on site.

Sports Performance Training

We also offer sports performance training to those athletes, young and older, who wish to improve their game of tennis, baseball, football, soccer, basketball, or even--yes, bowling. Excelling at your favorite sport, we all know, is not something that happens by itself, or even without practice. What we know at BPTI is that maximum performance in any sport is also a result of using your body to complement the equipment and achieve the desired affect.

Golf Clinic

For golfers who want to have more fun and better scores on the course,we offer our unique Golf Clinic. This class is individually tailored to your needs so that you can improve your physical performance and your enjoyment of the game.  We will evaluate your posture, strength, flexibility, balance and endurance and design a program to fit your goals.

Many physicians will recommend an EMG/NCS (electromyogram and nerve conduction study) for their patients with tingling/numbers, or weakness in an extremity or extremities. The physician hopes the EMG/NCS test will assist them in determining the cause of the problem and to aid in determining the best course of treatment and/or the need for other tests. How can you tell you are getting a quality study with information that will help you make an informed decision regarding your patient’s care?

1. The EMG/NCS exam should be customized for the patient’s specific complaints. To do this, the EMG/NCS clinician should address the referring physician’s concerns based on the referral. Further, the EMG/NCS provider should take a brief history and perform a neuromuscular screening exam to know where to direct the study.

2. The EMG/NCS provider should perform both the NCS and the needle EMG. The inclusion of the EMG exam is the only way to confirm the presence of a nerve root injury (radiculopathy), determine chronicity, axonal degeneration vs. just a neuropraxia, and assist in ruling out more serious disease.

3. The interpretation should be written in pathophysiologic terms. For example, instead of just providing a diagnosis of “carpal tunnel syndrome,” the EMG/NCS clinician should state if there is just myelin injury (neuropraxia) versus axonal injury, motor fiber versus sensory fiber involvement, the severity of the problem, and in some cases, the chronicity of the problem. In most entrapment neuropathies (like CTS), patients with myelin involvement of the sensory fibers is a mild problem compared to those with motor involvement (moderate), or those with axonal injury (severe CTS).

Greg Ernst, PT, PhD, ECS has been performing and interpreting quality EMG/NCV studies for over 19 years. He is board certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and is now providing these services at the Boerne Physical Therapy Institute. Call 249-7211 to set up an appointment.

What is the MOG?

MOG stands for Medically Oriented Gym. It is a new model of fitness training that involves clients who want training by trained medical professionals.  We are aware of your history and past injuries/surgeries and are able to modify your program to your condition and fitness level.  Danny Kasprowicz, PT, ATC, LAT director/owner of Boerne Physical Therapy Institute, wanted to offer affordable wellness advice and fitness training to the Boerne and surrounding areas. With MOG, the client will be given a thorough evaluation to determine current fitness level, body composition, flexibility, muscular strength and endurance, and balance to establish goals that are specific for that individual.

 How much does MOG cost?

There are several different plans to choose from. We offer a variety of programs to meet everybody’s individual fitness needs. The initial evaluation is a one time charge of $125.00. This will include a thorough evaluation looking at all the different areas of fitness. This will be a one on one time for us to get to know you and learn about your specific goals.

After the evaluation, you can choose from three different categories.

      1x/week (4 sessions)= $80/ session = $320/month

      2x/week (8 sessions) = $75/session = $600/month

      3x/week (12 sessions)= $70/session = $840/ month

**These prices are effective if paid in full at the beginning of the month!

Why should I choose MOG over a regular gym?

At MOG, the client will receive close monitoring to ensure correct form during all exercises. We also offer blood pressure monitoring, 02 saturation monitoring, and safe progressions to ensure that the client gets the most out of every session with us. We treat every session as an opportunity to educate the client in all the areas of fitness, health, and overall wellness. All of our clients will have a one on one meeting with a licensed Physical Therapist for their evaluation. Every session there after, the client will be led through their specific exercise regimen by one of our highly trained fitness technicians. All of our fitness technicians are highly trained.

How much time per session will I be expected to stay?

During your fitness routines you will be lifting weights for 15-30 minutes and doing some type of aerobic training for 15 minutes, flexibility and balance for 15 minutes.  So you will be here for one hour.  As you get more fit your treatment times will become less.
